The 2021 winter storm left many in our community without electricity and water for days. Now that the lights are back on, challenges include lack of access to water and food, cleaning up storm damage, and lost wages from the week-long winter emergency. Thanks to our hard-working team, and our incredible community of support, we have been able to mobilize quickly to provide assistance to Communities In Schools students and their families.

What we are doing to help CIS students:

• Connection to community resources
• Emergency assistance
• Checking in on the emotional well-being of students to help them navigate and cope with the adversity of yet another crisis
• Coordination with local restaurants and community groups to have meals delivered
• Providing water and non-perishable food items to those without access
