This training is offered by Erin Spalding, with the Christi Center.  It will introduce CIS staff to the Elementary Tool Kit and Secondary Curriculum for working with children and teens through their grieving process.   This training is designed for regular paid direct service staff and their supervisors.

One in five children will experience the death of a loved one before age 18.  Unresolved grief causes many behavioral and mental health issues, yet frequently goes unaddressed in children. This presentation will guide participants on a discovery of how each developmental level experiences grief and how art can be used to expand the conversation with grieving children and youth.  Participants will leave the session with a broader understanding of how grief impacts children and insight into how art encourages mindfulness and healing.  A tool kit with activities to support grieving children and a curriculum to use with adolescent grief groups will be available to all participants.
